My family is British but I was born in Madrid, Spain. I was fortunate enough to have a father whose work gave him the opportunity to travel around the world. When I was 9 years old, we moved to California. In 1996, when I was 15 years old, we moved to Maracaibo, Venezuela. That was quite the experience. After a difficult first year, things turned around and the last two years I spent in Venezuela ended up being the best years of my life. I had met some of the most incredible friends one could ever ask for. Once I graduated High School in '99, my parents and I moved back to California. It was definitely good to be back home.
I went to school and became certified as a Massage Therapist, a dream I've had ever since the 6th grade, I felt accomplished. I've worked in quite a few different places from salons to day spas to health shops and even a barber shop, some experiences were great while others I wish I could forget, but that's part of the biz, right? A young blond giving massages, you get my drift? Some people wouldn't take me seriously and that's something that really irritated me about this profession.
My parents split up in 2000 so my mum and I moved to a new city, to start a new life. It became difficult to find a new massage job (once again, people taking me seriously. For example, when I went in to interview, one person said I looked too young, even though I was 20) and that's a reason not to hire me? I give good massages, but apparently that wasn't enough. I decided I would look into something else part time. I became a receptionist for a pet boarding facility, and fell in love with the pets and the clients that came in.
That's how I met my husband, Michael. :) He would bring his dog, Coda, to us when he needed to go out of town on a business trip or when he was going on one of his adventures, whether it'd be scuba diving, sailing, or just traveling for pleasure. He. was. hot. I could not believe it, he was the most handsome man that had ever entered my workplace. After many visits, my dear friend and co-worker said to me, "you know, he brings his dog in here way too often, I think he has a thing for you." I couldn't believe it, but after a few months of flirting, he asked me out on a date. Here we are now, we've been married for 2 1/2 years and have a beautiful 2 year old daughter. I am currently a stay-at-home mum and love it. I get to watch Kailyn grow every day and never miss out on anything. She has changed my life like I never could have imagined. She has turned out to be the funniest, sweetest, most loving daughter in the world, I could not imagine my life without her or my husband in it.
We are in the process of buying a new home, which is bigger, better and just more beautiful than our current home. The best part? I'm hoping once we're all moved in we can start working on baby #2. :)I couldn't be happier with how my life turned out, it's everything that I have ever wanted. A loving husband, a beautiful daughter, our dog, our home...it's perfect.
Even though my family (my mum, my sister and her family) live in Colorado, I still get to see them at least once a year. And my father, who just recently relocated to Caracas, Venezuela, travels here to the US twice a year. Unfortunately, my brother and his family live in England and I never get to see them.
